Classes

Curious about working with clay but don’t know where to start?  Maybe you have experience but would love a refresher? In this 6 week class we will explore the fundamental techniques of hand building; including pinch, coil, and slab construction. We will then dive into the foundational skills of throwing on the pottery wheel; focusing on centering, pulling walls, and forming simple functional pieces like bowls and cups.  Over the course of the class, you can decide how you want to spend your time in the studio. Maybe you are drawn to the meditative process of working on pieces at a studio table, or maybe you find yourself going back to the wheel each week. It will be up to you! During each class, we will demo techniques as well as provide one-on-one instruction for each student. This class will also cover trimming and glazing techniques as well.

This overview class is supportive, relaxed, and process-focused. By the end of six weeks, you’ll leave with a collection of finished pieces and a solid foundation to continue your clay journey.

Intro to Ceramics

Give it a Go!

“Give it a GO!” is a one time event that is a relaxed, beginner friendly introduction to working with clay.  After a studio tour and orientation, you will spend the session getting your hands on the clay with instructor led activities that include both hand building and the pottery wheel. And no experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to get a little muddy!

At the end of class you will have created one piece (for example, a bowl or a mug) that you will leave with us to finish in the glaze of your choice. We can then mail it to you or have it available for pick up. (Additional pieces you create will have an added glazing and firing fee)
