Intro to Ceramics

Curious about ceramics?  In this course you will explore handbuilding and wheel throwing: pinch, coil, and slab construction—learning how to shape, join, and refine clay by hand. On the pottery wheel you will learn the foundational skills of centering, pulling walls, and forming simple functional pieces like bowls and cups.   We will also cover trimming and glazing techniques.

This course is supportive, relaxed, and process-focused. No experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to get a little muddy. By the end of six weeks, you’ll leave with a collection of finished pieces and a solid foundation to continue your clay journey.

Give it a go!

The “Give it a GO event” is a relaxed, beginner friendly introduction to working with clay.  You will spend the session getting your hands in the clay and experiencing both hand building and the pottery wheel.  We will guide you through the basics during this 3 hour experience where you will create one piece that glazed and fired. This is a one day class only.
